Owner/Operator: Design and construction of green, environmentally friendly, non allergenic,  structures. Started WellMan Enterprises to fulfill this dream. Have currently built three homes that have exceeded my expectations for energy efficiency. All three have been different and I have not found a plateau in my learning curve. Have done all my own drafting and design for these homes including: site planning layout, architectural, structural, framing and detail drawings. I work closely with an architect who is familiar with my unique building system.

Visit my MountainWood Memories page to see a small sample of what I have built. MountainWood Home
President/Operator: Initially began operations to provide lumber products to the construction industry. I ran the sawmill for the first year. Moved into the woods the second through sixth years. Gained experience in log home building and started the log home construction end of Mountain Wood in 1980. Specialized in Scandinavian Scribe-fit custom homes. Provided the public with genuine works of art. Constructed approximately 40 log homes ranging from 800 to 10,000 square feet. Ran construction crews of twenty persons while managing crews up to twelve in the sawmill. Did all my own drafting and design for log home business including: site planning layout, architectural, structural, framing and detail drawings.

MountainWood was founded on the use of plentiful standing dead timber around the Steamboat Springs area. This material was under utilized and swiftly deteriorating in the forest. I am proud that we used this unique material to build some of the most beautiful homes around. The same standing dead timber was used in MountainWood's mill to produce dry milled house logs and timbers.
During my eighteen years with MountainWood I gained experience on about every kind of heavy machinery. I drove log trucks, skid logs (with dozers and rubber tired skidders), ran fork lifts, cranes, front-end loaders, backhoes..... I never got to run a road maintainer (sad to say).
