Here are some links for products and good information about building green, energy efficient and sustainable products I know of.

If you have other sites or products to share with me I would appreciate it. I know there are new things happening everyday.  E-Mail Paul Wellman

I will start with where I believe the over all answer to our current global crisis is clearly spelled out. American Hydrogen Association is the voice of Roy McAlister. Roy was in on the development of the hydrogen fuel cell for the space industry. Fuel cells are real and there to use. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. McAlister's book The Solar Hydrogen Civilization (all the answers are in there).

I have developed a steel frame system to replace wooden floor and roof systems. This steel frame will be fabricated from steel that is manufactured from recycled steel. I am researching recycling smelters to find the biggest percentage of recycled steel possible. This steel framing makes the building stronger. Bigger spans for floors and roofs are easy with the added strength of steel over wood. Bigger spans allow more flexibility in design. Of course one of the biggest advantages of using steel is we are saving the last of the trees on the planet as green forests instead of green money. Check out the Steel Recycling Institute for much more information.

I am gearing up to build using the LEED Certification Program. this is the most well thought out program I know of. Project Certification will guarantee your project will be built as environmentally responsible, be as energy efficient as possible and be a healthy a place to live or work.

Building green allows you to receive tax breaks see info at  Energy Star. Here is an excellent government sponsored thing!

Polyurethane Foam and Coating Manufacturers  When possible I use a sprayed polyurethane roof system. This amazing product has many advantages over most roof systems. For instance sprayed polyurethane roofs offer the perfect surface for easy, clean water harvesting. They can't mold or mildew and are virtually indestructible. The link here takes you to a site that can tell you more than you probably want to know. Trust me it is an excellent choice in many different applications. Sprayed polyurethane is the best insulator I know. This is what is used on the space shuttle. I know they are having a bit of a problem with it falling off in flight but then I hope your home is not launched.

If you don't have solar or geothermal (or even if you do) TARM  USA Inc. produces boilers that can be fired with a variety of fuels. They will supply all of the domestic hot water and heat you home needs using gas, oil or wood.  It won't matter what the weather or your gas or electric companies do. Easiest way, I have found, to assure that your energy needs will not be subject to only one source. If wood is readily available (cheap) you can heat with wood. TARM's high tech boilers operate at over 80% efficiency. This kind of efficiency allows me to recommend them even though I am not a big fan of wood heat in general because of the pollution caused by most wood burning appliances.

Form-A-Drain by CertainTeed
is the patented 3-in-1 foundation solution that forms footings, provides an integrated drainage system, and can be easily adapted to vent radon where needed. Designed for residential basement applications, Form-A-Drain consists of lineal sections installed as the foundation footing forms. Unlike standard wood forms, Form-A-Drain lineals stay in place permanently after completion of the concrete pour, enabling them to function as a foundation drainage system and — because they form a complete sub-slab perimeter loop around the foundation — a key element of a radon reduction system. And because it stays in place, Form-A-Drain shaves valuable time from the construction schedule; there’s no need to return the next day to remove, strip, clean and transport forms to the next jobsite.
